Four weeks later and I'm still wearing my Supersonic Festival 'access all areas' wristband! Lets hope I can make it last at least two months.
I really don't want to forget how amazing the festival was this year. A lot more atmospheric and warming than usual, which is a surprise, considering it's always been in the Summer before! While working purely backstage this time, instead of all over the venue, I gathered a little community of friends with the other backstage volunteers.
Another plus was getting to see the bands face to face and discovering how normal they actually are! You assume that talented musicians will be completely different to everyone and maybe a little arrogant, but working backstage really quashes this expectation! I'd been a huge fan of Japanoise artists Melt Banana for a long time, and I was sceptical to approach lead singer Yasuko Onuki for an autograph or photo. But she was so friendly and I'm so glad I plucked up the courage!
The music itself was also on top form! As previously posted, I came across such unusual talent from Pierre Bastien, who I now adore! I owe Supersonic a lot for introducing me! While another of my favourites, Nisennenmondai , provided their legendary, whimsical beat sounds before my very eyes!
With an amazing but tiring weekend drawing to a close, I wanted more and began to remenice (and I still am!).
And if you were lucky enough to pick up a copy of Brum Notes magazine this month, you may have seen my review of the weekend. If not, its also on Project Platform if you click here.
Roll on next year!!............
